A Texas man got nabbed by the cops with a hefty stash of over $60,000 in cash, believed to be tied to illegal activities, during a traffic stop, according to local authorities.

The Fayette County Sheriff's Office detailed that the bust took place Wednesday at high noon, off I-10 Westbound near mile marker 661.

The white Ford truck, driven by Luis Angel Castillo Jr., 24, was pulled over for apparent traffic violations.

When the officer sussed out several criminal indicators, he got the green light from Castillo to search the truck, FOX San Antonio reported.

Digging into the vehicle, the officer used an X-ray scanner on some large speaker boxes under the rear seat, which uncovered bundles of cash neatly tucked away.

Peeling open the speaker boxes revealed the loot, and Castillo was promptly charged with money laundering – a felony offense.

The wads of cash seized in the sting totaled up to $60,040. Its no small change, and the local police suspect it's tied to broader criminal activities, though they haven't disclosed the specifics. As Castillo faces the music, his arrest serves as a reminder of the pervasive issue of money laundering that often hums just beneath the surface of everyday life.
