FRANKLIN COUNTY, Pa. (WHP) — A Chambersburg man who described himself as "the biggest pill dealer in Chambersburg" has been sentenced to life in prison following a conviction in United States District Court.

David Bruce Darby, 46, was sentenced on charges of drug trafficking, money laundering and weapons offenses following a trial in January where presented evidence detailed "an extensive investigation" into Darby's criminal history.

The U.S Attorney's Office states that Darby orchestrated drug trades in the Chambersburg area in 2018 and 2019 by obtaining and reselling oxycodone pills from New York City. Court evidence showed that Darby had continued to traffic drugs even while incarcerated in York County Prison.

Surveilled phone calls from inside York County Prison revealed that Darby had called himself "the biggest pill dealer in Chambersburg."

This career drug trafficker who prioritized profits over people’s safety will never have another opportunity to inflict harm,” Pennsylvania Attorney General Michelle Henry said.

Darby was also convicted on charges stemming from a death in 2019 where Darby had delivered fentanyl-laced pills that killed one of his customers.

I am thankful for the collaboration with our federal law enforcement partners, which led to a life sentence for someone who ignored numerous prior opportunities to reform his conduct," AG Henry said.
