Four men have been charged following an investigation into fraudulent activities at an Edmonton-area car dealership, KO Auto Finance, located along St. Albert Trail. The Edmonton RCMP Auto Theft Unit, with the assistance of the St. Albert RCMP, uncovered a money laundering operation that involved the dealership’s owners.

The investigation began in October 2024 when police looked into an individual who had received three fraudulent vehicle loans. As they dug deeper, authorities found that the owners of KO Auto Finance had been forging documents to acquire vehicle loans from three financial institutions. The funds obtained from these loans were then used for personal expenses and investments, according to police.

The RCMP arrested three of the four suspects involved: Karanveer Marahar, 32; Omid Nazari, 37; and Shaharier Alam, 26, all residents of Edmonton. The police are still searching for Dilraj Marahar, 28, who has an outstanding warrant for his arrest.

Dilraj Marahar and Nazari have been charged with money laundering and fraud over $5,000. Karanveer Marahar faces charges of fraud over $5,000, uttering forged documents, and forgery. Alam is charged with fraud over $5,000 and forgery.

The three arrested men appeared before a Justice of the Peace and were released on a Release Order with conditions. Their next court appearance is scheduled for March 31, 2025, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Edmonton.
