A traffic stop just north of Laredo led to a major cash seizure over the weekend.

According to authorities, a Texas DPS trooper pulled over a red Ford truck on I-35 near mile marker 18 on Saturday. During the stop, the trooper discovered $160,000 in cash concealed inside three square-shaped packages hidden within the truck’s frame rail.

Investigators say the money originated in Houston and was destined for Nuevo Laredo, Mexico.

The driver, 38-year-old Resendo Rosalio Banda Juantos of Nuevo León, Mexico, was arrested and charged with money laundering. He is currently being held at the Webb County Jail.
