ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have signed a historic agreement to strengthen cooperation in fighting corruption and money laundering. The deal also includes a framework for the recovery of stolen or illegally transferred assets.

According to official sources, both countries signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to formalize this collaboration. The agreement is being hailed as a major step forward in strengthening accountability and transparency between the two nations.

The MoU was signed during the inaugural meeting of the MENA Asset Recovery Inter-Agency Network (MENA-ARIN) held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on October 8–9, 2025.

Pakistan’s National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman, Lt Gen (R) Nazir Ahmed, and the President of Saudi Arabia’s Oversight and Anti-Corruption Authority (Nazaha), Mazen bin Ibrahim Al-Kahmous, signed the agreement on behalf of their respective countries.

Officials said the agreement will help both nations share information, recover assets, and take joint action to curb corruption and financial crimes.
