TAVARES, Fla. — The estranged wife of suspended Osceola County Sheriff Marcos Lopez pleaded guilty to money laundering on Monday.

Robin Severance-Lopez was facing racketeering charges in connection to what investigators say was an illegal gambling ring involving her and Marcos Lopez.

She was also charged with providing false or misleading information on a bail application last month after prosecutors say she lied about her financial situation in an August hearing.

According to court documents, as part of the plea deal, Severance-Lopez will serve 24 months probation.

Another co-defendant connected to the case, Krishna Deokaran, also pleaded guilty to money laundering on Monday.

Three other co-defendants, Carol Cote, Sharon Fedrick and Sheldon Wetherholt previously took plea deals related to racketeering charges.

Suspended Sheriff Marcos Lopez has not reached any sort of deal.

Next week, there is expected to be a plea negotiation conference.
