During the course of yesterday, the Police successfully carried out an operation targeting foreign criminal networks operating in Malta, during which four men and one woman were arrested in connection with drug trafficking, money laundering, and participation in a criminal organisation.

All individuals are of Italian nationality and are aged between 27 and 35.

The operation began with simultaneous searches at several residences in Msida, Sliema, and Swieqi.

During these searches, approximately 13 kilograms of substances allegedly including cocaine, cannabis resin, and cannabis herb were found and seized, with an estimated street value of around €250,000. Clothing and jewellery worth approximately €150,000, as well as €386,715 in cash, were also seized.

In addition, two vehicles and a firearm were confiscated, with the firearm later confirmed to have been reported stolen.

A Magisterial Inquiry has been opened, led by Magistrate Dr Monica Borg Galea LL.D, who appointed several experts to assist her.

Investigations into this case are still ongoing.
