The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI), in cooperation with the Qatari Association of Certified Public Accountants, organised a training workshop titled “Challenges of Compliance with Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Requirements and Mechanisms to Address Them.”

The workshop was attended by Assistant Undersecretary for Trade Affairs at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry HE Saleh Abdullah Al Mana and saw the participation of a number of auditors and representatives of the association.

The initiative forms part of the ministry’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the national compliance framework and enhance the efficiency of professionals working in related sectors. It seeks to establish a structured platform for dialogue between the public and private sectors, enabling the identification of practical challenges faced by professionals in meeting compliance obligations and supporting the development of policies and measures to address legislative or regulatory gaps.

Key challenges related to compliance with anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing requirements were examined during the workshop, alongside a review of practical mechanisms for addressing them based on real-world experience. Discussions also focused on ways to enhance communication and engagement between the Ministry and auditors, with the aim of building a professional partnership founded on transparency and cooperation.

This workshop underscores the Ministry of Commerce and Industry’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with specialised professional bodies and supporting institutional capacity-building.

These efforts aim to elevate compliance standards within the sector to the highest possible levels, in preparation for the upcoming mutual evaluation of the State of Qatar by the Financial Action Task Force (FATF).
