A 32-year-old man has appeared before Portlaoise District Court as part of ongoing investigations into the alleged activities of a Leinster based organised crime group.
Jake Deegan of Slatt Lower, Wolfhill, Ballylinan, Co Laois was charged with money laundering on dates between 1 April and 3 July, 2023.
He was also charged with conspiring with persons unknown to the possession of controlled drugs for sale or for supply between the dates of 16 February and 2 August, 2023.
He faces another charge of money laundering at Slatt Upper, Wolfhill, Ballylinan on 1 August 2023.
Detective Garda David Montgomery gave evidence of arrest, charge and caution.
The court was told that when cautioned Mr Deegan made no reply to each charge.
Detective Garda Montgomery told the court that the Director of Prosecutions had directed the case proceed on indictment.
Judge Susan Fay remanded the man in custody to Cloverhill Prison to appear back before Portlaoise District Court on 11 June.
