Ecuadorian authorities have arrested a man suspected of handling the finances of an Albanian-linked cocaine trafficking network.

Pablo Adrián H. T., known as “Caballo,” was detained during a military operation in central Ecuador.

He was already wanted on drug trafficking charges and is also being investigated for money laundering and organised crime.

Authorities say the network used Ecuador as a base to ship large quantities of cocaine to Europe.

The arrest is the latest move against Albanian-linked trafficking groups operating in Ecuador, one of the main departure points for cocaine entering European markets.
