The Attorney General's Department has directed the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) to produce Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) MP Namal Rajapaksa before courts on money laundering charges.
Rajapaksa, who is currently held in remand custody over allegations of accepting a bribe linked to the Airbus deal, is scheduled to appear before the Colombo Fort Magistrate's Courts on 16 September.
The CID submitted a motion to court on the matter following advice from the Attorney General.
Former SriLankan Airlines CEO Kapila Chandrasena, who later died by suicide, along with his wife N. Wijenayake, were earlier named as suspects.
Rajapaksa has been named as a suspect in the case while remaining in remand custody until 18 September over separate bribery allegations tied to the Airbus transaction.
